CORPORATE CONTROLLER
Location: Whippany, NJ
Full Time: Hybrid Monday & Thursday in office and 2nd Tuesday/month
Salary: $140K – $150K

DESCRIPTION:
The Controller is responsible for overseeing the operation of the JCF Accounting Department. The Controller supervises the assistant controller and full-time accountants. It is a roll-up-your-sleeves, hands-on position.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and review workpapers for the annual audited financial statements including work paper review
- Responsible for the accuracy and timely distribution of quarterly donor statements
- Responsible for the accuracy and timely update of the general ledger and preparation of internal financial statements
- Review 990, 990-T and NJ tax returns
- Prepare quarterly JCF Asset Statement & other relevant schedules included as part of the “Investment Committee Report”
- In conjunction with investment consultant, maintain monthly asset allocations and set up of new investment manager relationships
- Maintain relationships with and assist donors in all financial-related matters
- Review quarterly updates of JCF budget prepared by Assistant Controller
- Primary contact with outside custodian bank, responsible for review of daily activity and monthly reporting
- Interact with and assist other JCF personnel with accounting, budgeting, policies and procedures, outside custodian, etc.
- Handle all applicable tax matters of JCF including donor tax reporting of CRTs and CGAs and filing of Supporting Foundations forms 990
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- CPA preferred
- 10 years of experience, not for profit accounting preferred
- Experience with investments a plus
- Prior successful supervisory experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work with other professionals across a range of responsibilities and to develop good rapport with leadership, agencies, fund holders, and vendors
