The Grotta Fund for Older Adults is a legacy advisory council fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest (JCF). Dedicated to improving the lives of older adults and reducing ageism, the Fund awards strategic grants twice per year and, when needed, emergency responsive grants. Grant recommendations are made by the Grotta Fund Advisory Council and approved by JCF’s Grant Review Committee.
Position Summary
The Executive Director is an employee of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Metrowest. In this role, they lead the Grotta Fund’s grantmaking, strategic initiatives, and partnerships to advance its mission. The Executive Director guides the Advisory Council’s priorities, monitors emerging issues affecting older adults, builds collaborative relationships, and supports advocacy aligned with policy and program opportunities in New Jersey.

Grantmaking & Program Oversight
- Manage the full grantmaking process: RFP development, proposal review, JCF approval process, payments, and outcomes monitoring.
- Foster strong relationships with grantees; provide technical assistance, encouragement, or referrals to support their success.
- Maintain grant records and payments through the Foundation’s and Foundant systems.
- Evaluate program impact and share findings with the Council, partner funders, and stakeholders.
- Pursue the Fund’s mission. Work with the Council Chair to assign committees (Nominating, Grants, Oversight and Education), set goals, meeting aims, agendas and calendar. Prepare materials and facilitate meetings.
- Work with Council Chair to identify and on-board new members, as well as assign Council members to Fund committees.
- Ensure compliance with Fund guidelines and reporting requirements, legal requirements, timely grant payments, and JCF requirements.
- Cultivate relationships with community organizations, funders, associations, government agencies, and aging networks aligned with Fund objectives.
- Share the Fund’s impact through reports, newsletters, presentations, and digital platforms.
- Promote the Fund’s visibility and reputation across New Jersey.
- Guide the Council in developing and implementing strategic funding priorities, including emergency needs responses. Provide the Council with insights on trends, needs, and innovations in aging services, housing, health, and community issues.
- Represent the Fund at funder collaborative meetings, events, conferences, and with key stakeholders. Serve as a thought leader on aging and ageism in New Jersey.
- Coordinate financial reporting and grant payments with the Treasurer, Chair, and JCF staff.
- Maintain effective operational and online recordkeeping systems.
- 5-7 years of leadership experience in business, not-for-profit, aging services, healthcare/public health, community engagement and/or philanthropy.
- Experience in grant management or program development.
- Commitment to improving the lives of older adults in NJ, with particular focus on the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest geography.
- Flexibility to attend meetings in person and remotely with partners and collaborative groups.
- Strong strategic thinking, communication, advocacy, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and respond to urgent situations.
- Integrity, reliability, and collaborative work style with a service-oriented mindset.
- Knowledge of New Jersey’s nonprofit and aging services landscape preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Part-time, salaried role (~21 hours/week). Benefits: vacation (6 days) , sick leave (9 days), paid time off for Jewish holidays and Federal holidays.
